La Minita is awesome. One of the best farms on the planet, they control every aspect of growing and processing from start to finish, under the watchful eye of Bill McAlpin. They don't use herbicides or pesticides, in fact they received Rainforest Alliance Certification without having to change a thing, easily surpassing their standards. They provide housing, schooling, and medical care for their workers and their families. They produce less than 2000 burlap bags of coffee a year, and this coffee takes over 300,000 man hours to hand sort and remove defective beans, with each worker processing less than 50lbs a day. It's painstaking, but yields fantastic results. It's a phenomenal coffee you can feel good about buying and drinking.
What's better than La Minita? La Minita Sundried! They took 2000lbs (only!) of their best coffee, and let it dry for a few days in the sun on the drying patio, before being taken to the mill for processing. It's La Minita+, La Minita taken to 11: sweeter, more fruit, more floral, more YUM!
