Coffee is a hugely important asset to Papua New Guinea, being one of the only sources of western currency for large swathes of remote areas, which are some of the most virgin and fertile on the planet. This coffee was commissioned by Monpi Coffee from around 600 smallholders, not large plantations; with their assistance, Kindeng Wet Mill sorted and separated the best cherries, and dried them using the uncommon-to-PNG natural method (uncommon because it takes double the time it takes where it is more common, like Africa, due to cool, lower temps and high precipitation).
Chocolatey, like many Indonesian coffees, we have notes of silky molten chocolate and cacao nibs, malted milk sweetness, and lots of fruit notes, like black currant, dried sweet cranberry, juicy pineapple, with a winey sangria note, and light floral rose as the cup cools. Excellent as drip or espresso!
