Ketiara Women's Cooperative was started in 2009 by Ms. Rahmah, who had 20 years of cherry-picking experience under her belt, not an easy feat in the male-dominated Muslim society of Indonesia. Her skill and assertiveness have grown the coop from 38 to over 2000 members, all Fair Trade certified, with many farms gaining other valuable certifications. This coffee is both Fair Trade and organic.
Displaying a classic wet-hulled Sumatra profile, chocolate and caramel rule the day, with an earthy peat-like note, pine and cedar, sweet tamarind tartness, and an interesting orange zest note that approaches lemongrass. Works great in immersion brew/drip, and espresso!
